Frequently asked questions
What does Surge cost, and which plan supports the numbers I need?
Surge starts at $5/month for Hobby (one toll-free number), $20/month for Starter (up to three local or toll-free numbers), $100/month for Growth (up to 15), and $250+/month for Custom (unlimited numbers). Monthly fees become usage credit; overages and setup fees are extra. See the pricing page for messaging, carrier, number, and campaign charges.
Does Surge guarantee carrier approval within 72 hours?
Surge guarantees a response within 72 hours, not approval. Its September 2026 figures show median approval times of 25.2 hours for 10DLC and 49.2 hours for toll-free, based on the latest 100 campaigns of each type; individual carrier reviews vary.
Can I embed texting in my SaaS product and register each customer separately?
Yes—Surge lets vertical SaaS platforms register each customer for SMS and embed a ready-to-use messaging inbox inside their product. Embeddable components are included on every plan.
Can I test Surge before paying or completing carrier registration?
Yes—the free trial includes 10 messages to your own phone number, and you can test with a demo number before buying a number or completing registration. Production SMS requires choosing a number and completing 10DLC or toll-free registration.
Yes, on a best-effort basis, with lower coverage and reliability than US sending. New accounts cannot send outside the US and Canada; contact support to request international access.
